these japanese people do a pretty great job of impersonating all the really big names from “we are the world,” but come on rice eaters, are your big ol’ brains so busy doing math that you can’t figure out the real charm of this 80’s classic are all the random non-singers thrown into the mix?

where’s oriental dan aykroyd, guys? until I see a slant eyed ghostbuster, I’m declaring this video a bigger disaster since the last time one of you drove on the freeway!  ~high five me!~

michael jackson performed by showbiz pizza animatrons

you know what’s better than live performers at a restaurant? animatrons. no spontaneity or human emotion on stage - just good ol’ fashion soulless, robotic perfection.  here’s the showbiz pizza band, “the rock-afire explosion,” performing a medley of michael jackson hits.

who’s bad?  the gorilla keyboardist.  he’s been dealing coke in the back alley.

super trivia sunday! the grammys

who was the first artist to win “best new artist,” “best song,” “best record,” and “best album” all in the same year?

the first person to comment with the correct answers (limit one try per person) will get their name in the hall of fame on the side bar and get to lord it over everyone. don’t be discouraged if someone else answers first; there’s a good chance that person is wrong.

strange internet: ashley tisdale ruins a fad
written by geoffrey on 06/10/08 5 comments

as part of a promotional campaign for teen deodorant, ashley tisdale (high school musical) has rickroll’d all of us by doing a cookie cutter remix of rick astley’s “never gonna give you up.” i guess she didn’t “ruin” the fad, as it was already fading out of existence, but now it doesn’t get the quiet, dignified death it deserved.

r.i.p. rickroll.

5 very obscure weird al parody songs
written by geoffrey on 04/14/08 3 comments

as a kid, i was a huge “weird” al yankovic fan — i’d say i know about 90% of his total song catalog. whenever i hear a “new” weird al parody for the first time, it’s almost always an internet mislabeling of a stupid morning radio show parody. however, there are a handful of truly obscure weird al songs out there you might not have heard before.

here are 5 weird al rarities, many of which are… well, strange.

1. “pacman” - a parody of “tax man” by the beatles (fan made video)

this was a prehistoric weird al parody from the early 80’s, when pac-mania swept the nation, like a yellow ball thingy sweeping a maze in order to eat dots. al didn’t really cash in the way buckner & garcia did with pacman fever. guess al just didn’t catch that fever badly enough. *pacman death sound*

2. “green eggs and ham” - parody of “numb” by u2

sometimes al can’t get the rights to release a song on an album, so he sings it in concert instead. here’s a good example, featuring al doing an impression of the edge… and getting licked on the face by two girls at once. now that’s something you don’t (care to?) see every day.
