the writers room: samurai pizza cats
| written by asterios on 10/08/07 | 1 comment |
asterios here, with some important behind the scenes tidbits from the samurai pizza cats writing staff:
1. the guy who sang the english language theme song was a writer for the show, and was drunk while singing. that’s why he repeats the word “down” a lot - he’s hammered.
2. the line from the opening, “if someone could find the script we might begin the show” is true. when the writing staff received the japanese episodes for redubbing, they weren’t given copies of the scripts to send to translators. instead, they just made everything up.
3. this show is pretty hilarious.

“dimension fighters”: we have met the enemy, and it is a younger version of us

video: dimension fighters, episode 1. as neo would say… “whoa.”
the three-kid canadian filmmaking team hoolaloo terrifies me. they’re just too talented, and they must be stopped before they destroy all the work we’ve done at overtime comedy. we work too hard on our comedy videos to be outdone by these wunderkinds, with their canadian cameras, and their genius bits.
i implore you: do not visit their youtube page at http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=Hoolaloo. do not watch the above video. and if you see the three canadian thugs noah, frank and issac - run away very fast.
after the jump, mst3k’s take on the matrix…

which member of the vacant lot are you? find out, with this stupid quiz!
| written by asterios on 01/29/07 | leave a comment |
i hate internet quizzes. why do i need a computer to tell me which buffy the vampire slayer “big bad” i am, again? i already know i’m the nerds of doom - i don’t need a machine to tell me how i feel inside.
still, while trying to find a copy of the vacant lot sketch “silent ventriloquist” for bill, one of our overtime readers, i came upon this quiz that’ll determine which member of canadian sketch supergroup “the vacant lot” you are. my favorite question is the last question:
Finally, who is your favourtite member of the Vacant Lot?
Paul Greenberg
Nick McKinney
Rob Gfroerer
Vito Viscomi
that last question completley invalidates the quiz. you might as well be writing quiz entitled “which character from the tv show ‘doug’ are you” go:
Finally, which character from the tv show ‘doug‘ are you?
Doug Funnie
Patty Mayonaise
This Quiz
Was Poorly Written and Concieved
that being said, i have to give props to anyone who’d compose a vacant lot quiz in the first place. so, missdizzy87, author of the vacant lot quiz, great job.
but fix that last question, or there’ll be hell to pay.

mystery science weekend 3000
| written by asterios on 09/16/06 | 1 comment |
welcome to the weekend - if you’re anything like us, you’re just itching to not get back to work. here’s some amazing MST3k to help you savor the weekend just a little bit more.
the classic “sandy frank” song. dance, joel, dance.
joel & the bots vs. mr. b natural, a short film about transvestite music teachers. this is the best MST3k short ever made.
mr. b natural, pt 2.
the gang from the satalite of love rips an old industrial short apart. enjoy “hired”.
a 15 second clip from their UHF days on KTMA in MN. tom servo uses the word “fuck”.
the gang trashes “space mutiny 2″
mike nelson and mary jo pehl (mrs. forrester) confronted by an angry sci-fi fan on a canadian talk show. he claims what they do is “bad for sci-fi films”. i claim he’s a moron.
another song from joel and the gang, about love. love & sidehackers.
finally, the old KTMA opening sequence. see if you can spot the subtle differences between it and later openings.

kids in the hall: most of them aren’t gay
| written by asterios on 08/19/06 | leave a comment |
the first episode i saw of the kids in the hall was the last episode of the series - it was one a.m. on CBS, and i was very confused. why were five grown men being buried while alternative rock music played? and who’s that fat guy in a towel?
about a month later i was in a car with my nerd cousins and they were all talking about KITH (now who’s the nerd - i abbreviate it “KITH”). “they’re all gay,” said anton. “nah, just four of them,” retorted stefan.
me: “i don’t think any of them are gay. i think they just play girls.”
anton and stefan: “are you fucking kidding me?”
well, history has proven us both to be wrong - only one of them is gay. still, i was more right than those two, so fuck you anton and stefan.
(just kidding. i love you guys.)
