saturday morning cartoon: batman’s 2 min pilot
written by geoffrey on 07/19/08 2 comments

here’s the pilot demonstration executives at warner bros. commissioned to see what batman: the animated series would look and feel like.  normally, these sorts of pilots are really rough (check out this one for family guy), but here they’re obviously very far along in defining the mood and style of the show.

btw - who’s going to dark knight this weekend?

saturday morning cartoon: batman’s batarangs

the best batman weapon of all-time?  unless you count the batmobile as a weapon — which you shouldn’t — you’ve got to give it up for the batarang.  a boomarang that’s gone through some serious batgeneering, batman frequently relies on the weapon in the animated series.  check out this montage of great moments in bataranging:

it seems fitting to celebrate the success of wall-e with an episode of the first fully cgi animated tv show, reboot.  in this episode, we are introduced to the super virus known as gigabyte.  to read more about gigabyte, check out the reboot wiki.  that’s right, there’s a reboot wiki.

remember when everyone used to say “down the hole?“  i do! that wasn’t the funniest part of baby plucky’s second appearance (after “potty years”) — i think the funniest thing is the mom getting more and more frustrated with baby plucky. after seeing this tiny toons short again, i’m never going to have children. *shudder*

after the jump, baby plucky’s “potty years.”

tiny toon adventures - “going up”

saturday morning cartoon: beetlejuice

beetlejuice has become less sleazy/rape-y in regards to lydia, which is good for their relationship, since they’re friends who go on adventures now. if he was still trying to forcibly marry her, it’d make for a very awkward cartoon.

in this episode, the skeletons in beetlejuice’s closet expose a host of lies. lies!

saturday morning cartoon: 90’s theme song montage
written by geoffrey on 06/14/08 2 comments

normally we show an actual episode of a cartoon on saturdays, but this 30 minute collection of 90’s cartoon opening theme songs is too impressive to be ignored. next week we’ll show an episode — this week just sit back and enjoy the toon song overload.
