written by geoffrey on 07/22/08 4 comments

i haven’t been very impressed with what i’ve seen of the cleveland show so far.  the teaser and theme song have left me cold.  however, this 10 min. clip of the show on youtube is quite hilarious.

super trivia sunday! army of darkness
written by daroff on 07/20/08 5 comments

the magic words ash was to speak before picking up the necronomicon were actually taken from what classic film?

the first person to comment with the correct answers (limit one try per person) will get their name in the hall of fame on the side bar and get to lord it over everyone. don’t be discouraged if someone else answers first; there’s a good chance that person is wrong.

saturday morning cartoon: batman’s 2 min pilot
written by geoffrey on 07/19/08 2 comments

here’s the pilot demonstration executives at warner bros. commissioned to see what batman: the animated series would look and feel like.  normally, these sorts of pilots are really rough (check out this one for family guy), but here they’re obviously very far along in defining the mood and style of the show.

btw - who’s going to dark knight this weekend?

ironywatch: smoking a president in “how high”
written by geoffrey on 07/17/08 2 comments

i’m always on the look out for new things to appreciate ironically. this is ironywatch.

for today’s ironywatch, i’m not going to go point-by-point to say what i love about the stoner “comedy” how high.  i just want you to watch the above video.  watch the above video, then i’ll put it into context for you with the following paragraph:

the characters in the film how high accidentally smoked the ashes of their smart, dead friend, which made them smart enough to go to harvard.  when they run out of ash-pot, they dig up the bones of president john quincy adams in order to smoke him, so they’ll be smart again. not only do the characters not get in trouble for this, but the grave-robbing of john quincy adams isn’t even mentioned again in the film. amazing!!!

thank you, redman and methodman.  after rewatching this clip on youtube, i stood up from my chair and gave how high a much deserved standing ovation. *puff puff* you’ve been ironywatched.
