so apparantly at one point in time, a video game version of dirty dancing existed. having watched this trailer for it, i am not convinced i will be doing anything dirty while playing it. lame.

though this was released a little over a month ago, for some reason it reminded me of the classic 80s vampire flick the lost boys. i keep hearing edward herrmann saying, “don’t invite a vampire into your house, it renders your defenses useless”.
what he should have added was…”well, except for super aids”.

in the 80s, i was only allowed to play video games that were deemed educational. but i wanted to kill things like the other kids did in their games. so my parents and i made a compromise with…battle chess. this 1988 game by interplay combined the refinement of playing chess with the bloody destruction of the fact that the pieces fucking killed each other in the most horrible ways imaginable.

i’m a bit obsessed with the internet phenomenon where movie trailers are re-edited to make them look like a completely different genre of film. it seemed to start shortly after the release of the brokeback mountain trailer and consisted of mainly trying to make two characters look gay. but it has grow to so much more of a subtle art. and i have to say, i think i’ve just found my very favorite use of the devise. and so i present to you… scary mary.
