ironywatch: this youtube video of drunk chicks singing a spice girls song
| written by geoffrey on 07/31/08 | leave a comment |
i’m always on the look out for new things to appreciate ironically. this is ironywatch.
oh man, these girls have over 4 million hits on their youtube video. they’re stars! no, they’re better than stars. they’re cewebrities! i’m gonna buy the t-shirt that says, “vodka + teenage girls =” and then a picture underneath of the girls singing, with the words “IF YOU WANNA BE MY LOVER” on it. wearing a shirt shows i’m hip to the joke.
actually, i’m gonna have to cut this post short, cause i’m twittering the link to all my friends. we all love humor on the internet, and these girls have got me lol-ing all over the fucking place.

| written by geoffrey on 07/31/08 | 3 comments |
a clip of asterios performing stand-up at an LA comic book store made its way to npr’s marketplace. way to go, asterios! and way to go batman, for hopefully getting a sense of humor.

macgyver: trail to doomsday

when just an hour of macgyver action isn’t enough, check out one of macgyver’s mini-movies. in just the first ten minutes, macgyver re-lives saving a dude’s life on a snowy cliff, only to watch him die from an assassin’s bullet. can he save his dead buddy’s kidnapped niece? how many times will he use duct tape and a swiss army knife to do it? you’ll have to watch to find out.

comic-con trailer for wolverine: orgins
| written by geoffrey on 07/29/08 | 2 comments |
even though i proudly attended this year’s super-crowded comic-con, i just couldn’t get to everything. that’s why i’m happy to see that the trailer for the new x-men film, wolverine: orgins, is (temporarily) online.
the video quality isn’t great, but the appearance of a certain southern mutant hero got me out of my seat and throwing around a deck of playing cards. but why won’t they light up with kinetic energy? why?!

ragtime: holy crap, that’s trevor from fresh prince
| written by daroff on 07/29/08 | leave a comment |
freshman year of high school, the drama club put together a trip to broadway. i’d seen shows in boston before, but never on broadway. ragtime was the perfect first show for me. the show is so massive, they actually built a new theatre to fit its epic scale. if any of you have even a passing interest in the theatre, i highly recommend it.
at the time, though, what impressed us the most was that the male lead was brian stokes mitchell, whom you all know as trevor, hillary’s idiot fiance from the fresh prince of bel air. you’d never know it from fresh prince, but this guy seriously fucking talented. if i were you, i’d go out and get the ragtime soundtrack. it’s pretty frickin’ sweet.

late show: top 10 reasons homer simpson should be president
| written by geoffrey on 07/28/08 | leave a comment |
to celebrate their 400th show, the simpsons sent homer to do the late show top 10. letterman seemed quite fond of #5, which i didn’t like until the awesome follow-up at #4. but maybe that’s just me.
geeky animation note at :16 - i like how homer looks upset when he says “i,” but then looks confused when he says his own name.
