super trivia sunday! late night with conan o’brien

which celebrity claimed to secretly be a man in her celebrity secrets segment?
the first person to comment with the correct answers (limit one try per person) will get their name in the hall of fame on the side bar and get to lord it over everyone. don’t be discouraged if someone else answers first; there’s a good chance that person is wrong.

saturday morning cartoons: baby plucky
| written by geoffrey on 06/28/08 | 4 comments |
remember when everyone used to say “down the hole?“ i do! that wasn’t the funniest part of baby plucky’s second appearance (after “potty years”) — i think the funniest thing is the mom getting more and more frustrated with baby plucky. after seeing this tiny toons short again, i’m never going to have children. *shudder*
after the jump, baby plucky’s “potty years.”

TGIF - urkel parodied in local real estate commercial
| written by geoffrey on 06/27/08 | 5 comments |
gonna have some fun, show you how it’s done - TGIF!
there are two sides to the two brothers investment group. one side is calm, cool and ready to help you with all your real estate needs. the other side involves them doing a family matters parody, complete with urkel, carl, cheese, the phrase “big guy” and a “did i do that?” i wish i had a house to sell. maybe as part of the deal, they’d show me their take on urkelbot.

ironywatch: bowling for soup

i’m always on the look out for new things to appreciate ironically. this is ironywatch.
get ready to kind of rock out!
it’s fitting that one of bowling for soup’s big hits is called “almost.” that’s the perfect word to describe this band. they almost write good lyrics — if only they were a little smarter or a little stupider. they almost rock — if only they were a little popier (okgo) or a little rockier (foo fighters). the one thing you can say is that they write memorable hooks… which are almost likable.
for this reason, i really love “punk pop.” bands like american hi-fi and sr-71 know how to write catchy melodies and singable lyrics that leave you with the most hilariously sleazy feeling after listening to them. like chaperoning an eighth grade dance and checking out the girls butts. “work it, lindsay silverberg– oh no, what am i doing?”
bowling for soup is truly the shredded wheat of bands. the adult in you says, “turn off this empty pop garbage and listen to only philip glass — nyeah!“ however, the 11-year-old kid in you says, “fart, fart, fart - “1985″ is awesome!“ i’m not going to disagree with my inner 11-year-old, even though i know he gets fewer than 1/4 of the references in the lyrics.
this is ironic punk rock 101 - bowling for soup, you’ve been ironywatched.
