think about it: dan quayle could have been president
| written by daroff on 04/30/08 | 2 comments |

the similarity is undeniable. i wonder if quayle moonlighted as robin.
these days, the joke topic du jour is how stupid george w. bush is. the joke is so easy that it’s become stale before he’s even out of office. i’ve heard j.f.k. sex jokes that seem more relevant. in the dynne of endless bush-ism jokes, we forget that within our lifetime a man half as smart as dubya was a well aimed gun shot away from being president. thank god in this election cycle all we have to contend with is inexperience, out-of-touch-edness, and a total lack of moral fiber.
but wait, no one has picked a vice president yet

nintendo revisited: mega man 2
| written by daroff on 04/29/08 | 6 comments |
on my freshman year college roommate’s emulator, i played every single mega man, so i can say without a doubt that mega man 2 is by far and away the best mega man of the bunch. mega man x was sort of close, but by a huge margin. everything about this game rocked: sweet level design, rockin bosses, and the best 8-bit music score ever. i admit to having never actually beat it on my own, but that doesn’t make me enjoy it any less. i fucking love this game.
also, like i said before, i can play bubble man’s theme on guitar, and that makes me happy.

roflcon: overtime interviews the memes
| written by geoffrey on 04/28/08 | 3 comments |
this past weekend, i rocked out at roflcon. the place was crawling with internet celebrities. case-in-point: i waited in a line to talk to matt from homestar runner with the guy who made chuck norris facts and the writers at jib jab. very surreal.
i also guest blogged for the convention, interviewing the memestars after their panels. here’s who i talked to:
he reminisces on how sesame street execs responded to his pioneering meme.
joe mathlete - marmaduke explained
talks about why he was hoping for a cease and desist letter.
andy ochiltree - head writer of jib jab
explains how they turned “this land” into a successful company.
rob, kris and matt - cyanide and happiness
they talk about their relationship to the similarly drawn, but completely different humor-wise, xkcd.
christian lander - stuff white people like
his (sad?) bit of advice for people trying to become successful bloggers.

super trivia sunday! bubble bobble
| written by daroff on 04/27/08 | 3 comments |
when you’ve gathered them all, the collectable letters in bubble bobble spell out what non-sensical word?
the first person to comment with the correct answer (limit one answer per person) will get their name in the hall of fame on the side bar and get to lord it over everyone. don’t be discouraged if someone else answers first; there’s a good chance that person is wrong.
