summer 1992: no one was cooler than rufio
written by daroff on 03/31/08 leave a comment

hook came out christmas 1991, but rufio’s coolness lasted well into the summer. summer camp seemed a lot more like neverland that year, and the cool kids all seemed more like rufio. as an adult, i can forgive that he turned beautiful neverland into some sort of basketball skate park and introduced the unnecessary catch-all term “bangerang.” i can forgive the red, frosted triple mohawk and the fact that he was kind of a dick. i can forgive that he brazenly and stupidly tried to take on captain hook on his own and that his dying words were pretty sappy. why, you may ask?

he was fucking ru-fi-oooooooo!

super trivia sunday! the dream team
written by daroff on 03/30/08 2 comments

which member of the dream team came out of retirement for the 1992 olympics?

the first person to comment with the correct answer (limit one answer per person) will get their name in the hall of fame on the side bar and get to lord it over everyone. don’t be discouraged if someone else answers first; there’s a good chance that person is wrong.

saturday morning cartoon: a pup named scooby doo
written by geoffrey on 03/29/08 2 comments

though many attempts to “babyfy” popular cartoon characters are terrifying, this one was pretty decent. in a pup named scooby doo (’88-’91), scooby and the gang are kid detectives. the show stays pretty true to the original 70’s formula, though it’s less boring and with better jokes. that’s right, i prefer a pup named scooby doo to the original cartoons. jinkies?!?!

TGIF - urkel and carl have evil twin dummies

gonna have some fun, show you how it’s done - TGIF!

this ’spooktacular’ clip from family matters is truly amazing. as goofy as the show got, if you told me there was an episode in which carl fights soul-sucking, chucky-esque versions of himself and urkel, i probably would have been like, “ha ha - that’s funny but totally made up.” nope, it’s real!

their names are carlsbad and steevil, by the way.
