gonna have some fun, show you how it’s done - TGIF!

this is a perfect storm of abc early 90’s TGIF promos. the commercial features a clip from family matters where urkel tries to act cool, quick mentions of dinosaurs and george clooney’s baby talk (lol) and is a semi-parody of a c&c music factory song. but most obscurely, the prime-time spin-off of rosanne barr’s failed saturday morning cartoon: little rosie.

according to my limited research, rosanne was extremely upset at abc for canceling her kids’ show due to low ratings. so they gave her another chance, and she made a terribly rated prime-time cartoon, the rosey and buddy show, which makes fun of abc executives. it was cancelled after one episode. awesome.

the promo also reminds us of this painful atrocity.

    Huh. My parents watched dinosaures when I was young, and I dont remember much about it. However, I remeber hearing Rosanne’s terrible singing skills. And you made me watch it again - In cartoon form. Curse you.

    Well, I had read (and watched) Robby becomes a buff jerk (THats what always happeneds on with TV steroids)
    and I SWEAR I’d heard the baby’s song before somewhere.

    On another random note, my dad collected alot of odd stuff and I have lots of packs of Dinosaurs tradeing cards.

    The only time i was ever allowed to stay up late was in fact, on TGIF nights. Sure I changed the channel or was sent to bed once 20/20 came on but that was my life as I remember it.

    Yes indeed, even though I love her to bits I do feel dreadfully sad that she deteriorated a while back.
