how ridiculous, right? these are all parodies of an SNL sketch, which was parodying the OC. after asterios introduced me to these things, i can’t get enough of them. these five are pretty darned good.

In my policy I really hate shows like the OC. Shows like the OC (One Tree Hill, Etc, etc. All exactly the same) are one of the biggest things ruining television. The other 2 are Horrible Reality TV (I love New York, Celebrity Rehab… COME ON!) and lousy cartoons (Every cartoon made within the last 3 or 4 years.) However, the parodys brough on by this OC thing are pretty funny. The Step by Step one Asterios put up is probably the best, but the Simpsons and Lion King one are also really good. I need to check out the original SNL one.

seriously, watch the scene from the OC and you’ll truly understand the cheese of this joke. just search “dear sister” or “dear snl” on youtube and you will see the breadth of parodies littered throughout.
also, if you don’t like the OC or One Tree Hill, don’t watch them. it’s not like their very existence is stopping shows like law & order or lost or heroes from being produced. you give these shows too much credit by saying they’re ruining television.
as for reality tv, not every reality show is bad. admittedly, the worst reality show is worse than any scripted show, but some reality tv offers a nice brain vacation. my doctor says i should eat healthier, but i still pound a carton of ben and jerry’s. and if you’re worried that reality shows are ruining tv by offering lower budget alternatives, notice that scripted budgets are ballooning, so i’d say scripted television is safe.
oh there i go ranting again. you know we love you, hexen.

Note to self:
Don’t argue with Daroff.

EVERY cartoon made in the last 3 or 4 years? I’m an animation student, and even I’m not that pessimistic about cartoons nowadays.

Shows Created, I mean. Stuff like Simpsons is still alright (Though decreased.) Family Guy is basicly unwatachable now. Gym Partner, Camp Lazlo, Chowder, Foster’s Home, Squerill Boy, George of the Jungle, Ben 10, El Tigre, Avatar, That stuff on saturday morning, its all awful. Hoenestly, One episode of something classic like Courage the Cowardly Dog or Dexter’s Lab easily has more laughs in one episode then The full series combined of every show I just listed. The new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series was awful. Even Spongebob has really taken a shot twords mediocrocy. The only promising new cartoon ive seen is Nick’s Adventure Time, and that probably wont make it to a series. I really wish I had boomerang so I could watch shows with entertainment value. Now I dont know if im gonna get bashed for this (Daroff didnt say anything about me listing cartoons) But Alex, I hope someone like you can revive our craptastic television situation when you’re done with you’re animation schooling. And if anyone knows any worthwhile cartoons created in the last 4 years (New, not continueing), tell me.
And there is my rant.

tv hasn’t changed, you have. that’s why you need us to help you relive your past. in twenty years, someone will blog about how awesome spongebob was in 2008, mark my words.
can’t we just all agree silverchair sucks and move on?
