i remember registering the existence of billy idol in the 80s. mostly i remember what a kick i got out of the fact that i thought he was actually saying “ride your pony” instead of “mony mony.” but i never truly understood the elvis-esque power he had over women until recently…

…about a year back, my sister had an extra ticket to local la station jack fm’s first concert and i went because journey was on the line-up. steve perry wasn’t going to be there, so that knocked some of the wind out of my sails, but still, i figured i’d enjoy myself. what i didn’t expect was to have to hold my sister upright as she screamed in what almost sounded like agony but was apparantly pure joy. my 23 year-old sister was being murdered by billy idol! from half a stadiums length away!

somehow she managed to survive but to this day, she’s never quite been the same.

damn you billy idol. you should be locked up.
