who else remembers the journeyman project? written by daroff on 09/07/07
remember when these graphics were state of the art?
time travel is the shit and it has always been the shit. you can imagine my delight to find out the packard bell computer i bought with my bar mitzvah money came with a video quality time travel adventure game! this game blew my mind. the trailers that came with the game said to turn up the speakers and turn down the lights. i did, and it was so worth it.
the man who invented time travel has gone insane and thinks the aliens who have come to earth in peace are actually here to destroy us, so he sends three robots back in time to stop the human/alien alliance from ever happening. simple, right? you are the time cop sent to figure out what has changed and put it right. the writing of this game is so fucking clever, from the intricate evil plot to the fact that the time cop agency hid a dvd of all human history in the stone age so it’s immune to any changes in the time stream. to stop the robots, you have to prevent an assassination, disarm a bomb, pilot a space fighter, and break into NORAD. this shit was intense.
the graphics were mind-blowing for 1996. the attention to details, like the ammenities of the main character’s apartment, was more clever and insightful than anything i had ever seen. the sound track kicked ass. and my life was never the same.
even though i was stuck with a crappy packard bell computer.

Hi there,
I have played the first and third JP games. too bad they don’t make these kind of games anymore…
it is underrated.
a good story in most games is missing these days.
Now the legacy that Journeyman has left for the games today is to just pump out the best graphics possible.
