my second plea to stop silverchair written by daroff on 08/29/07
that’s right, a new single from a new album
hi, music. it’s me again. when i said we need to prevent silverchair from making music, i did not mean let them release another album. come on, what is this? “young modern” looks to me like a new album. how could you let this happen, music?
luckily for us, this album sounds nothing like old silverchair. just like they ripped off nirvana in the nineties, they’ve now opted to rip off coldplay, with the same shitty results. does this kid have anything resembling integrity? they’re like weird al without the brilliant comedy.
they just listen to the radio and write watered down parodies of the watered down pop they hear. then when the album’s done, they re-make their look to match whoever’s popular at the time. he got famous by looking like kurt cobain, and now he looks curiously like chris martin from coldplay. coldplay isn’t even really all that cool anymore. and here’s the worst part: entertainment weekly has given their new album the honor of “ew pick of the week.” how could you let this happen, music?
have you no respect for yourself, platonic form of music? i know you have the power to shut them down. we as a society really don’t need a band to just copy existing music. mp3’s are just computer files. if i want more coldplay that badly, i can just copy the file. don’t let me waste another $30 on a silverchair cd. music, seriously, how could you let this happen?

I bought Young Modern. Cheerfully. I also bought Frogstomp a little ago, and a Best Of DVD.
Keep it up, music. Gotta love me some Silverchair :)
