america online from 1995!

though they skip over the dial-up problems and the fact that loading a single image took, like, 5 hours, most of the old school america online experience can be relived in this crazily dated video. of course, 12 years later, the goliath of online services would eventually succumb to the power of the series of internet tubes, but for a time, the best way to download 5 second homer audio clips and shitty hypercard games was via the mighty aol.

having the general internet in power is certainly a change for the better, though i do kinda miss “the people connection.” irc channels freak me out.
