mister rogers plays donkey kong. good luck not tearing up, blogosphere. written by asterios on 05/17/07
y’know, i’m sure there’s a pretty snarky, sarcastic piece in here - making fun of an older guy play video games - but that’s kinda easy. it’s just really sweet to watch mr. rogers try to comprehend donkey kong.
at one point, he refers to mario as a carpenter, which actually makes more sense than him being a plumber. it would explain why he has that hammer, and so many ladders.
great job, fred rogers. you showed that you actually did care about what kids liked, as opposed to shoving yu-gi-oh cards or bratz dolls down their throats.

I don’t know what’s better:
That the coin collector is played by awesome character actor, Keith David…
… or that 90% of the comments on youtube are saying “LMAO! MR. Rogers is such a pedo!”
Oh no wait - it’s the first thing. The second thing is awful.

he just wants to learn about video games! leave him alone, youtube. go pick on a cat playing piano or something.

i saw all the pedo comments, and it’s like, “wow, i guess that’s what happens when the internet is exposed to sincerity. it just has no idea what to do with it.”

Dammit I’m crying now. Fred Rogers you were a great man and the world was lessened by your loss.
