the real bill cosby actually talking about jell-o pudding
written by geoffrey on 05/31/07 leave a comment

“jazz is like jell-o pudding pops — no!” if you’re an avid cartoon fan or internet geek, you know exactly where that comes from. the simpsons made fun of bill cosby 12 years ago in an episode called “’round springfield,” and since then, whenever anyone makes fun of bill cosby, they say “jell-o pudding pops - heh heh heh” in that crazed, sing-songy voice. there are thousands of cosby take-offs all over the internet, most of which incorporate “jell-o” (ex. house of cosbys, cosby bebop).

however, i’d bet many people doing this impression have never actually seen bill cosby in a jell-o pudding commercial. if you haven’t, try snacking on these authentic bill cosby jell-o clips, before you ramble on about the kids listening to the rap music:

the bell what? sylvia who?
written by jenni on 05/31/07 leave a comment

ever since i was a young lass, whenever i am feeling particularly down i like to break out my copy of the complete works of sylvia plath and just wallow in my misery. alas, i cannot find my copy right now, so out of curiosity i did a search for sylvia plath videos on youtube. finding this odd 1988 short film about her gravesite is oddly soothing. i don’t know if it’s the use of night on bald mountain or the monotony of the british host, but it’s definitely not making me feel like sticking my head in an oven. a new suicide prevention tool? i think so. also…informative!

tom and jerry mash-up is an 8 minute disaster
written by morrison on 05/30/07 leave a comment

tom_jerry.jpgi’m the only guy i know who still laughs at tom and jerry cartoons. i don’t know… chuck jones has a way with me. i like the way mouths look in his cartoons. there’s just something inticing about it. like maybe i could make out with a cat mouth if it looked like that.

i hunted on youtube earlier today for a fucking hilarious t&j short, but found something simultaneously better and more debilitating. there are no original ideas. someone has synced “in the court of the crimson king” by prog rock outfit king crimson to the tom and jerry short “switchin’ kitten.”

so what the hell am i supposed to do with all these foghorn leghorn cartoons that i dumped into imovie?

5 sitcom dances you can do at a party
written by geoffrey on 05/29/07 32 comments

fresh_prince_cast.jpgmost people, like myself, get very self-conscious about dancing in public. you try to be cool, but end up looking like a fool (word). if you like to dance, but are worried about being laughed at, why not bust out with a dance move that’s intentionally dorky and is a funny pop culture reference to boot, so you’ll be laughed with instead (*studio audience applause*)?

so, fellow tv geeks, here are 5 dances that sitcom characters did, which you can do too:

#5: perfect strangers - “the dance of joy”

find a friend who’s as uncool as you are, and perform the simple but hilarious “dance of joy” from perfect strangers. it requires just a little coordination to get it right, and it’s ideal for a situation in which a circle has formed around you, and people are saying, “go [your name], it’s your birthday!” hey, what better occasion than your birthday for doing the dance of joy?

[special thanks to perfectstrangers.tv for the clip - check out their amazing library of promos!]

#4: saved by the bell - “hot sundae”

dorky girls, this is your chance to own the dance floor, like Bayside owns Valley at every fucking sport — go Bayside! three girls can probably learn the steps, or a cribbed version, in two hours, and then you can show off while any 80’s new wave song plays. compared to you three, all those girls gyrating their asses will look like fools on caffeine pills.
