deathiversary: r.i.p. alice noretti from exo squad written by daroff on 04/03/07
now you too can watch poor alice die
in the first episode immediately following the five episode pilot, exo squad wasted no time in thrusting us into the tragic theater of war. within the first four minutes of this episode, the show makers introduce us to a kindly woman named alice noretti, establish a clear emotional link between her and the main character j.t. marsh, and kill her in a tragic skydiving accident.
i was just a kid. this was fucking tragic. a character in a cartoon died. like really died. marsh even kept a picture of her in his e-frame because she was the only person to ever die under his command. the only person! in his career, he’s lost one soldier, and we had to watch.
they even went as far as making an evil clone of her dead body twenty episodes later, so they could bring her back into marsh’s life and make him question why he’s fighting this war in the first place.
war sucks, people. and i’m damn glad i had to be scarred for life to learn this.
