what do you mean gerald ford died? written by rob on 02/26/07
video: mr. belevedere says goodbye. people sure did place themselves conveniently in straight lines back in the 80’s.
gerald ford dead? when did this happen? why wasn’t this parodied on a fake news program or the cover story for hilarious websites? it seems like doonesbury would have brought it up or it would have been referenced on jibjab.com. was letterman on hiatus that week? hell my neighbor is jimmy carter and he didn’t mention a thing.
…oh he died during christmas break? i see. well then, of course no one knows he died. christmas week is a time to get together with family and watch the mr. belvedere box set.
christopher hewett, who played mr. belvedere and dazzled my television screen from 1985-1990, died in 2001. i remember because i held a candelight vigil for seventeen days (seventeen being the number of times i watched that final episode). mr. hewitt was smart enough to die in august when virtually nothing happens. ford sure picked a bad time to die. it’s too late for a candle light vigil now.
come to think of it - what did ford due exactly? i don’t remember him being mr. belvedere so he couldn’t have been that important. did he ever do a potato chip commerical or a rap song for doritos? sure he was president, but for how long? two years? wow, that’s lame. christopher hewett was mr. beleveder twice as long as ford was president.
for five years hewett served his country proudly (well maybe not his country, but our country…so it’s cool). think about that next time you drive by a flag at half mast.
