come get your fix of “paint pastel princess”

the following is an open letter to music:

dear music,

i didn’t know how else to contact you, so i hope this reaches you in time. apparently silverchair is playing at the el rey theatre in los angeles february 20th (for tickets contact ticketmaster). I need you, the platonic form of music, to do everything within your power to stop this event from happening.

we, as a society, have done everything in our power to stop silverchair. first, we stopped buying their albums. second, we stopped going to their concerts. finally, we dropped them from their record label.

but you see, music, silverchair is much too resourceful for us. they managed to find a new indie record label and a newfound zest for touring. with the internet, they’ve managed to get us to come to their concerts and put their songs in our itunes playlist. i, myself, have not one but six silverchair songs from three different silverchair albums. how did they get there? i didn’t download them.

there’s really nothing more we can do on this end. it’s up to you. the dictionary says the components of music are rhythm, melody, and harmony. all i’m asking is that whenever the members of silverchair attempt any of these three things, the result be silence. they can still talk to each other and express themselves verbally, but if they venture into these three areas, you just shut them off.

this, i believe, should make for one heck of a concert come february 20th at the el rey in los angeles (ticketmaster). hope to see you all there.

Are you going to the El Rey show? It’s gonna be sweet!

Silverchair was the first concert I ever went to. I have a pic that Daniel Johns gave me. That was before the whole anorexia thing. His…not mine.

I should specify it was a guitar pic that Daniel Johns gave me. As opposed to a myspace pic.
