does pauly shore take you out of the goofy movie experience? written by geoffrey on 01/16/07
first of all, let me make this abundantly clear: i love a goofy movie. it was a movie about goofy, who’s awesome, and his son, a typical teen (not unlike myself in the 90’s), bonding together. fuck yeah. show me someone who doesn’t like a goofy movie, and i’ll show you someone who hates life.
that being said, whenever i listen to pauly shore voice max’s friend, i want to cringe. nothing against the movie itself, or even pauly shore per se, but whenever i hear his voice, i think of jury duty and biodome, when meanwhile i’m trying to concentrate on max and whether or not he’ll get the girl.
he just stands out so much. i don’t immediately think of the t-rex in toy story when i hear “principal” wallace shawn. but pauly shore tips the scale for me. can i get a special edition where voice actor townsend “michelangelo” coleman dubs over the part? i’ll even buy a copy of encino man to even things out.
