superhuman samurai syber squad vs. the samurai pizza cats: battle of the rip offs! written by asterios on 11/22/06
“enjoy” the opening sequence to the samurai pizza cats.
did i watch these two shows as a kid? fucking-a i did. like most of america, my loyalty to the teenage mutant ninja turtles was total - therefore, any show that combined a martial arts discipline with three other random words was sure to get my attention. these two shows had that in spades.
the samurai pizza cats raises ripping off the ninja turtles to a zen-like art. hey kids, like ninjas? well you’re gonna love samurai’s, ’cause they’re also sword wielding asians! and you know how the turtles love pizza? well so do these fuckers, dumbass! now watch it, you don’t have a choice!
also: forty-one seconds into this video the pizza cats take a direct swipe at the ninja turtles, claiming that the pizza cats “got more fur than any turtle ever had,” and then showing a turtle get crushed by falling debris. that’s like the monkees going, “we’re better musicians than the beatles ever were,” then showing john lennon getting crushed by falling debris. it’s desperate and cheap, classless behavior from a classless rip-off.
the superhuman samurai syber squad isn’t as direct a rip-off as the pizza cats, but still owes a lot to the turtles. check out this video, for example:
see that little cock-knocker holding an electric guitar? he pretty much owes his entire attitude to the fucking ninja turtles. also: anyone in the 90’s declaring anything to be “radical,” you better thank your lucky fucking stars that michelangelo paved the way for you.
so, watch these two videos and you’ll aggree: these tv shows are so terrible that i hate myself!

well the pizza cats was more of a rip off of gundam and ronin warriors(samurai troopers), just look at the armor, the main cat looked like ryo of the wildfire in his inferno armor… the pizza element is turtlish.
as for the cyber squad or whatever, i still have the action figure of that shit upstairs somewhere, and i always think it’s some ultraman action figure when i see it… I also hated that fukin nerd that was their enemy and eventually teamed up with them somewhat against his will when his own creation turned on him, or whatever that ‘virus’ dude was.. that might’ve been the last episode i think.

there’s a reasonable explanation for why your servo action figure looks exactly like ultraman. it’s because he is ultra man. in the same way the power rangers is american actors wrapped around a japanese show, syber squad is a saved by the bell knock-off wrapped around old ultraman episodes.
and i watched every last episode.
pump up the power!
let’s kick some giga-butt!
let’s samuraize guys!

Samurai Pizza Cats is like Ninja Turtles?
There is NO way they are even close.
First off, the show Samurai Pizza Cats has no relation to the Ninja Turtles. SPC was dubbed and edited to become a different entity rather than follow its original plot and setting. This seemed to be a common ordeal and fad in the 90s whence importing TV shows and editing them.
The writers decided to take the show into a rather comical direction not only poking jokes at cultural references, but also at the show itself. Ninja Turtles was only ever mentioned once.
The original show is called Kyattou Ninden Teyandee (Ninja Legend Cat Teyandee). As far as the English title of the show is concerned, Pizza Cats is taken from the name of their restaurant where they work part-time when not defending Little Tokyo (Edoropolis in KNT).
Its quite amazing knowing that Saban Entertainment having only Japanese scripts with no English translations were even capable of coming up with this show.
So don’t get mad when they poke fun at your shell shocked turtles. Embrace it knowing that SPC even references it.
