stay out of the “no zone,” my niggas!
written by geoffrey on 10/31/06

in the early 90’s, everyone rapped. policemen rapped about not doing drugs, firemen rapped about fire safety, and urkel rapped about “doing the urkel.” however, this video, featuring teens rapping about staying out of a truck’s “no zone” (blind spot) is special, because the rap actually worked. yes, it’s a typically bad driver’s ed video: non-union actors, dialogue that fails to be witty, and an annoyingly specific premise.

but it worked. i watched it, and now i think of this when i get in a truck’s blind spot. i speed up every time. that’s the true power of rap-u-tainment. i’ll sing along to “99 problems,” but until jay-z teaches me how to properly speed onto a highway, he pales in comparison to these rap legends. no zones 4 lyfe!

ahahaha - you know, just the other day we were driving down a crowded freeway alongside a truck - then i remembered, “holy shit, i’m in a no-zone, i gotta get outta here!”

HAHAHAHAHAAHA! I actually watched this in driver’s ed when I was 15 (I’m 25 now); my boyfriend had no idea what “No Zones” were and I was appalled, thinking that all Driver’s Ed places showed this awesome video. Does anyone else think it’s bad that the black guy burnt the hot dogs?

i am so glad to hear that the video has not been phased out for a lame parody of the OC or something.
