the animaniacs were an over-hyped learning tool

let me make one thing clear: i love the animaniacs. absolutely hilarious. i’m currently journeying through the wilderness of pinky and the brain dvds. very funny, very entertaining, and incredibly classy.

they also sucked balls at teaching you stuff. frankly, this song about all the countries of the world is harder to memorize than just memorizing all the countries’ names without music. none of their songs were particularly helpful, and i’m pretty sure leaning on the animaniacs as a teaching tool was a mistake that grade school me paid for dearly.

the lesson? don’t mix entertainment with learning! ever! dropping an anvil on martha stewart’s head is funny (that happened, right? please tell me the warners tortured martha stewart), no doubt about it. and when i want to learn, i’ll “read” (read: not read) a book. when you mix these two elements, however, it’s like mixing together two chemicals that explode. the explosion is pretty cool, but when your face catches on fire, you won’t think it’s so “radical.” and that’s what happens when you watch animaniacs: your face catches on fire.
