the ending begins at 17:30. this is a speed-through of the ninja turtles gameboy game. cowabunga, dudes!

some games were impossible to beat. thankfully, teenage mutant ninja turtles: fall of the foot clan was not one of them. the last thing i wanted to do was beat my head against the screen of another impossible ninja turtles game (i’m looking at you, fucking impossible nes ninja turtles game). even in the title, it’s implied that the foot clan will fall, so you know that fate is on your side. if the game were called teenage mutant ninja turtles: you’ll always die fighting shredder, then you’d have a serious problem.

everyone was talking about the ending three days after the release date. that’s about how much non-continuous playing time we needed to finish. and we were… a little weirded out. today, we laugh off lines like “freaked the foots” and “vaporized to milk shake.” but back then, all we felt was a vague dissatisfaction we could not articulate. i mean, michaelangelo’s first line when he unties april is “we are here to save april.” uh… duh! what else would you be doing? delivering a salmon, mexican jumping beans, and pine sol pizza? total script bummer.

the thing that caught us most off guard was the question mark after “the end.” i’m pretty sure this is the first time i’d ever seen that before, and it totally blew me away. after all, how can it be an ending if there’s a question mark? that question mark is throwing everything off! now i don’t know what to expect. ghaa! if there’s gonna be a sequel, how come nintendo power doesn’t mention it?! i’m so lost!

yeah, it might not have been great, but damn it, we were talking about that ending in school, and whether or not a sequel was imminent. so i guess the ending does its job.
