the endings for super mario land and double dragon are pretty cut and dry. unfortunately, the same is true for tetris…
end sequence begins at 30:20. this is a full half-hour of master tetris action! my thumbs would be bleeding after this.
“tetris for gameboy is the greatest game of all-time.” sure, i won’t argue. “programmers are busy people.” very true. they’ve gotta design blocks and… program. they’ve got a full plate!
still, as fun as the little dancing russians and the rocketship is, shouldn’t they do something special for reaching 1,000,000 points? apparently, it has never been done & recorded before this guy put a video up on youtube, so it’s been close to 20 years before this feat was accomplished. pretty amazing. yet all you get is the standard rocket at the end. shouldn’t they at least put a “1 million points! you should feel good about this accomplishment!” text on the screen? i always thought there was some super amazing thing for “breaking” tetris, potentially the hardest, craziest game there ever will be. however, no such luck. it turns out that when you become an adult, life is about disappointment.
then again, i loved — and still love — rocketships at the end of video games. and i could never hold a grudge against tetris. that’s right. never!

was this guy sleeping with with tetris or something? did he pay for tetris’ daughter’s college education?
i’ve played tetris for years and I can tell you one thing, the long, four-in-a-row block shows up only in one specific instance– when you don’t need it. i have never seen the long, four-in-a-row block show up at so many useful times.
no wonder it took twenty years. it would take that long to seduce tetris into giving you so many long, four-in-a-row blocks. that suave S.O.B.

Yeah I reached that ending too back in Junior High. There’s actually two endings to tetris, one is a wall or buildig being built with the blocks and the other is the rocket.

Tetris DX for GameBoy Color is slightly better than the original game boy Tetris, but the music and sounds of the original GB Tetris are better.
I have a high score table full of million + scores. I’ll have to fire up the emulator and take some video of one of those games.
