nintendo: the secret history of “yo noid!” + a word about “cool spot” written by asterios on 10/11/06
sure, we all know super mario brothers two was originally a game called “doki doki panic”. i won’t insult your intellegence by acting like you don’t know that. here’s an even dorkier fact: “yo noid!”, the famous domino’s pizza mascot NES platformer, was originally called…
Masked Ninja Hanamaru!
the above video shows a clip from hanamaru, then a clip from yo noid! they’re the exact same game, except hanamaru was far less obsessed with pizzas. he would, however, go apeshit over crazy bread, so i guess that’s sorta similar.
here’s a clip from “cool spot”, another video game built around a product’s mascot. which product, you ask? it’s pretty clear from the video above: giant bottle shaped surfboard corp.
the reason i put these two games together is this: they’re pretty fun games to play, which you wouldn’t expect from a game based around selling soda or pizza. i rented cool spot all the time from my local video store, same with yo noid!
i also rented mckids, however. that game sucks.
