get the most out of your computer… with compuserve!!!!!

compuserve is like tron meets all the knowledge in the world, mixed with fun for the whole family. the only problem was that it sucked. if compuserve didn’t suck so bad, it would have been great. the internet’s the best, with early to mid-90’s aol coming in second. dial-up bbs’ take the “indie cool 3rd” position, so the real question is “which sucked harder: compuserve or prodigy?” answer: they both sucked, so it’s hard to measure. however, this commercial is pretty amazing — for a minute, i thought to myself, “why don’t i have compuserve? look how great it is!” then a suckiness reminder kicks in, like a spider sense about a very specific, dorky topic.

hold on a sec — mom, i’m using the phone! do not pick up! i’ll be done in an hour. call her then! no, YOU’RE grounded!

Yeah. I tried Prodigy. I tried CompuServe. But when I was 13 nothing got me high like AOL.

I remember when you had to get all that shit on the street too. Those were the coarse days. Walking to the mail box, borrowing a 3.5″ floppy, passing it to Todd in the school bathroom when I was done.

Whatever. I still use AOL’s AIM from time to time. Its their legacy and my addiction.

And sometimes out there, on the Web, I come across a little something CompuServe. Yeah. You know what I mean. Late nights, surfing, downloading images from the Department of Education.

Sure, I usually refine those *.GIFs into *.JPGs before use. The quality isn’t so good, but they get the job done. Yeah.

It can’t be a perfect world. Not everyone can use JPEG all the time.

Anyway. My point is this. You can tap into CompuServe’s leagacy anytime you want with the *.GIF.

But if you are hardcore like my aunt Kimberly feel free to in to CompuServe and sign up to pay for email.

For what its worth I hear Prodigy is also still alive.

Whatever, they are probably both owned by AOL.
