vectorman for the genesis: not shitty graphics; just back to basics written by dave on 09/11/06
video: “vectorman II”, an action platformer for the sega genesisĀ
the year was 1994/95, and video game graphics were stepping up a notch. nintendo released donkey kong country, with all kinds of 3-d animals running around through impressively detailed landscapes. sega had to step up. they had to keep the competition going, and perhaps, even take it up yet another notch.
so along came vectorman, a character made entirely of balls. “well,” you might comment, “i thought they made pretty convincing balls graphics in pong,” and you’d be right. But did the pong ball have to fight insects and villains that were also made mostly of balls? not in the pong i played.
so sega threw the gaming world for a loop. balls were back in, and monkeys… well, you don’t hear about them anymore, do you? no, sir. but i do love balls.
