star wars / muppet crossover super challenge! written by geoffrey on 09/07/06
first of all, i regret not writing about this for overtime’s 100th anniversary post. i’m ashamed i didn’t think of this epic crossover. and yes, epic is the only appropriate word to describe it.
so, here’s my super challenge. for all the glory on the internet (and believe me, there’s a hell of a lot of glory out there), please explain how the above clips fit within the story continuity of the star wars universe. most people (read: idiots) would dismiss this special appearance as just a “jokety joke,” but you know better. give me the details: between which two movies does this happen? which two events (battles, etc)? how were luke and the droids able to travel to “a galaxy far far away” and still be back in their own world to continue the events from the movies? and does their appearance on the muppet show have any lasting repercussions on the events of the films?
here’s some reading material to help you on your journey:

it’s up to you now — you’re my only hope! (and no, this is not a trap.)

Did you hear about the thief in NY dressed up as Darth Vader who held up a bank? Seems like the opening of a gag but it was real!
