hindsight is 20/20, but we still can’t see dana carvey
written by dave on 08/28/06

yes, that’s dana carvey and stephen colbert, and yes, that show was on for seven episodes. the dana carvey show has been lost to the ravenous maw of history, but check out this roster, which i’ll put in bold so it can properly kick your ass:

your dana carvey show writing staff includes: dana carvey, steven colbert, steve carell, dave chappelle, louis c. k., robert smigel, and charlie “screenwriter superstar” kaufman!

there are more — i just don’t have the strength to type their names. if you put this group of people together again right now, present day, the television world would explode, then implode, then burst into flames, then crash onto your house and you’d lose everything, but you would be damn happy about it. they’d just have to call it the steven colbert, steve carell, dave chappelle, louis c. k., robert smigel, and charlie “screenwriter superstar” kaufman show! (with guest host, dana carvey).

poor dana. he really deserved better than… well, everything since wayne’s world.

trapped in paradise was okay though. so i guess that’s the happy ending.

My favorite sketch was “Germans Who Say Nice Things”. Such as: Mister Holland’s Opus is the feel good movie of the year. You’re right, the writing staff on that show was just awesome. It’s too bad it didn’t stick around. I also seem to remember Mr. Show’s Dino Stamatopolous as a writer.
And Trapped in Paradise was not good. I wanted it to be when I was 15, but I see now that it just wasn’t.
