mtv used to be for geeks.

there once was a time when you could stay in on a friday night, watch mtv, and not be called a “loser.” i know this because that’s what i used to do every friday night. mtv was your hip, alternative friend; it told you that it was okay to be odd.

but then mtv went away for the summer, and when it came back, it looked totally different. mtv looked older, and it started dressing differently. then it began hanging out with all these cool kids you never talked to. and everything you used to do together was now considered “lame” by the new mtv.

but you know what, i miss the old mtv. i miss the mtv that would air a show like “oddville.” i miss the mtv that would have taylor negron as a top guest, dancing around to cibo matto.

if “oddville” was on today’s mtv, it would just laugh right in oddville’s face, then start an awful rumor behind its back. if “oddville” was on today’s mtv, it wouldn’t be on mtv.

man, you’ve totally changed mtv. and not for the better. if you want to talk to me, you know where to find me. i’ll be in ms. pfeiffer’s art class - remembering the good times.
